Code of Conduct for Parents, Guardians and Carers

  • Encourage your child to learn the Club and Training rules.

  • Encourage your child to treat others with kindness and respect.

  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.

  • Set a good example by recognising good sportsmanship and applauding the good performances of all.

  • Never force your child to take part in gymnastics.

  • Always ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the activity (Leotard, shorts, T-shirt) and has plenty to drink.

  • Ensure your child is punctual (arriving at least 10minutes before your session begins)

  • Children must be dropped off and picked up from the gym (School sports hall) by a parent or guardian.

  • If you require your child to meet you outside in the car park or if another adult is picking up your child, please tell the Club Secretary (Nikki) in good time. This will ensure the coaches are aware which gymnast(s) are going home with which parent(s).

  • Please ensure all fees are paid by the start of each half term. Should you have any difficulty with payment please contact the club secretary via email at gemstonesgymnastics@hotmail.co.uk.

  • BG Membership must be purchased within two weeks of joining.

  • Keep the club informed if your child is ill or unable to attend sessions either through phone call to the official Club number or via email.

  • Endeavour to establish good communications with the Club, coaches and officials.

  • All ideas and suggestions matter to the Club if delivered in a polite manner, please send any ideas or suggestions you have to the Club’s email address.

  • Share any concerns or complaints about any aspect of the club through the approved channels (please see the Club’s complaints procedure).

  • Use correct, respectful and appropriate language and behaviour at all times; the use of aggressive or offence language or behaviour may result in you being refused entry to the gym premises and asked to find alternative arrangements for the drop-off and collection of your child. In extreme cases, where gymnasts and other club members feel threatened, the police will be called. Gemstones reserves the right to suspend membership or expel members who repeatedly refuse to abide by club rules and procedures.

  • Parents are not permitted to pass the barriers before the entrance to the changing rooms and dance studio unless invited.

  • Please respect the decisions or thoughts put forward to you by the coaches or club officials. The Head Coach ultimately has the final say, but will endeavour to consider all points of view.

  • Any communication between Coaches and young people i.e. texting/emails etc. must be done directly through the young person’s parent/guardian. There should be no reason for a coach to directly contact a young person or vice versa. In the event of a gymnast showing a coach a text message, image or email that is considered to be inappropriate for a child to have, the coach must inform the appropriate Welfare Officer.

  • In the interest of safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults gymnasts must NOT add coaches to social networking sites such as Facebook, bebo etc and vice versa. (As stated in the BG safe guarding and protecting children policy). Gymnasts may join the official Gemstones Facebook page.

  • All staff, members, volunteers and job applicants are entitled to be treated fairly regardless of gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, age, parental or marital status, disability, religion, colour, race, ethnic or national origins, or social/economic background (please see the BG Equality policy).

  • All jewellery MUST be removed before participating in a gym session. Please ensure your child abides by British Gymnastics rules and removes all jewellery, including watches, before entering the gym. Tape over earrings is no longer permitted. Any concessions on religious or medical jewellery must be within the bounds of reasonable safety.
